Great grandfather‘s farm was a magical place

To me; Great grandfather ‘s farm was a magical place. Each summer until I was 10 I was able to Visit my grandfather and grandmother for a month. The best month of the entire year! One of my special memories was very early mornings before the sun came up, we went for the milk cows. Walking through the thick foggy mornings with the mist so thick it felt like rain. My uncles were on their way to get the cows, and we were able to go with them. The shadows were so dense it was hard to see .

We’d walk down the road to the pasture gate (which seemed miles away to this little girl). The cows seemed to magically appear, all lined up ready to go to the barn. The reward of getting up early was great, uncle Eddie would put us on the neck of the cows, we were able to ride on the cows neck all the way back to the barn instead of walking.  As a grown woman I know that my little legs probably slowed down the morning milking by a considerable amount. But those magical mornings still bring smiles of awe to my face. The cows never minded the weight of small children on their backs.
